What verification can show

Verification can show whether the signed file still matches the signed state represented by the matching sig.json and key.

The same secret key used at signing is required for that later verification check.

If verification fails, that does not automatically explain why. It means the file, metadata, or key no longer matches the expected verification package.

That distinction matters for claim operations. A failed check should trigger review, not automatic conclusions.

Handling PDFs in claims

Claims often include PDFs: estimates, scanned invoices, police reports, inspection sheets, and repair forms.

WaveSign signs PDFs by rasterizing pages and rebuilding an image-PDF. This supports visual verification but may sacrifice searchable text, selectable text, form fields, annotations, and original PDF structure.

For final evidence packets, this can be acceptable. For documents that still need editing or form handling, sign only the final version.
